mars bars squaresHalloween may be over a month away, but really, you don't always have to use the sugar-laden holiday as an excuse to make treats ... or reinvent your favorite candy in the kitchen. And let's be real -- who doesn't love various baked incarnations of classic candy bars? Snickers cupcakes, York peppermint patty brownies, cookies with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups baked in the middle ... mmmm.

If you're a Mars Bar fan, you're probably over-the-moon that the candy bar was resurrected last year after being discontinued in 2002. Now, you can bake with the real deal -- woot! So, consider this candy reincarnation: Mars Bars-turned-Krispie treats. This recipe's easy, melt-in-your mouth deliciousness will make for the PERFECT guilty pleasure whenever, wherever!

Mars Bars Squares from TheKitchenMagpie.com:

Ingredients

For bars:

  • 4 Mars Bars
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 3 cups Rice Krispies

For topping:

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Melt the bars with butter in a pot. Mix the Rice Krispies in with them, then transfer to a well greased 9×9 pan.
  2. Melt the chocolate chips and butter for the topping, then pour it on top.
  3. Cool in the fridge, then cut into pieces and serve.
