Delicious Dirt Cake

dirt cakeHere's an oldie but a goodie that no one ever gets tired of -- dirt cake. Of course, there's no real dirt, just yummy smashed up chocolate sandwich cookies. It's great for kids, but adults love it too. If there are no kids in the intended eating audience, you may want to skip the gummy worm decorations on top though.

This is a pretty standard recipe for it, but you can also have all sorts of fun with it by making it in a flower pot, sticking flowers it, and adding other creative touches. The best part is that it doesn't just look cute; with all the cream cheese, cookies, and pudding, it tastes really good too.

Dirt Cake

  • 2 small boxes of instant pudding (vanilla or chocolate)
  • 1 large package of whipped topping
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large package of chocolate sandwich cookies
  • Gummy worms (optional)

Combine pudding, whipped topping, cream cheese, and powdered sugar in a large bowl. Fold together until fluffy.

In a food processor (or by hand), grind the cookies into a dirt-like texture.

In a 9x13 dish, spread half the cookies, then top with cream mixture.

Top with remaining cookies and worms.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or longer before serving.
