10 Reasons a Beyonce Cookbook Is an Unappetizing Idea

beyonceI think it's perfectly acceptable to LOVE Beyonce Knowles but be skeptical about the fact that -- thanks to Gwyneth Paltrow's encouraging advice -- she has plans to publish a soul food cookbook showcasing her mother's family recipes.

After all, we respect Beyonce as a singer, actress, and entertainer -- and not necessarily because of her prowess in the kitchen. In fact, here are 10 reasons why a Beyonce soul food cookbook is a really unappetizing idea.

10. Beyonce has publicly proclaimed herself a "disaster in the kitchen." So why does she have any business writing a cookbook?

9. The fact that she and husband, Jay-Z, employ a chef suggests she has neither the time nor the motivation to improve her kitchen skills.

8. She's also admitted to memorizing the room service menus at her favorite hotels. Surely, she's someone with much more experience eating out than eating in.

7. The one ingredient Beyonce has admitted to being able to cook with is oxtail. I don't know about you, but there are only so many ways to cook an oxtail. I doubt this could fill up a whole book.

6. Soul food (outside of Africa) has been around since the 14th century. Does Beyonce really think she has something to add to its rich history?

5. Patti LaBelle has a soul food cookbook. Is there anything left to say?

4. The rumor is that pal Paltrow, who recently released her cookbook, My Father's Daughter, is the one encouraging Beyonce to spread her culinary wings. But just because Paltrow's attempt was successful doesn't mean that any celebrity can write a cookbook. Is a Stella McCartney cookbook on the horizon? Please say no.

3. Relatedly, we really don't need another cookbook by a celebrity who claims to consume the high-fat, high-calorie recipes but whose fabulous figure suggests otherwise.

2. Just because celebrities can cross over to other professions doesn't mean they should. Beyonce is to a cookbook what Mario Batali is to a musical. Some things just don't go together.

1. I don't want to poke fun at Beyonce, but if she publishes a cookbook, I'll have no choice but to do so. Incessantly.

Would you buy Beyonce's cookbook?
