We're well into grilling season and no doubt you're probably looking for a little inspiration by now. Sure you've done steak -- plenty of times. But what about steak sandwiches? These Filet Mignon & Provolone Sandwiches melt in your mouth. Top them with gourmet ingredients like grilled mushrooms, caramelized onions, and maybe a bit of avocado, and they become even more decadent. And, of course, mayo and steak sauce are a must for any filet sandwich worth its salt. Grill these up tonight or maybe even for Dad on Father's Day this weekend!
Filet Mignon and Provolone Sandwiches (makes four sandwiches)
- 4 (4-oz.) filet mignon steaks
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Provolone cheese
- Steak sauce
- Crusty bread or hoagies
- Avocado, caramelized mushrooms & onions (optional)
- Brush steaks with oil, season with salt and pepper. Heat a grill to medium high heat. Grill the steaks to desired doneness. Let rest 5 minutes. Slice thinly.
- Assemble sandwiches.
- If desired, place on grill for a few minutes with top done -- just so the cheese melts and the bread gets slightly browned.
