First, simmer the brats in a mixture of beer and onions with just a touch of butter. Then grill. Serve with your favorite brat condiments -- mustard, pickles, onions, bell pepper, maybe even a little sauerkraut. Pair with classic picnic foods like potato salad, watermelon, and cold beer and you've got an instant party on your hands.

Ingredients

  • 10 brats
  • 2 (12-ounce) bottles/cans of beer (or enough to cover brats)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • Brat condiments
  • Buns

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine brats, beer, butter, and onion. Bring the beer to a simmer; simmer the brats for 20 minutes. Remove brats, reserving beer mixture.
  2. Grill brats.
  3. Serve brats on buns with beer mixture and condiments.
