Are you thinking to yourself: What in the world is a Dutch Baby? Well, my friend, this lovely breakfast confection has many names, some among them include German Pancake, Bismarck, Oven Pancake -- now do you know what I'm talking about?
This pancake-like dish is made with flour, eggs, and milk, and it puffs up when you bake it in the oven. It's traditionally served with powdered sugar and lemon wedges, but you can add any fruit you fancy -- warm apple compote, fresh blueberries -- the choice is yours!
Dutch Baby from Food Network
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 3/8 ounces all-purpose flour (approximately 1/2 cup)
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- Lemon wedges
Place 2 tablespoons of the melted butter into a 10-inch cast iron skillet and place in the oven at 375. Set the remaining tablespoon of melted butter aside to cool slightly. Wait 10 minutes before assembling the other ingredients.
Place the flour, sugar, salt, milk, eggs, and remaining tablespoon of melted butter into the bowl of a food processor or blender and process for 30 seconds. Pour batter into the preheated skillet. Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until the edges are puffed and brown. Serve with lemon wedges.

YUM!!! I'm definitely trying this!
I tried one of these from Weelicious and it was so gross. I hope this one's better!
What was gross about it? Soggy?
I'm thinking some vanilla and/or almond extract would be perfect in there, topped with some delicious whipped cream... MMMMMM!
I will try it with Chocolate shavings and whipped cream.
