When Martha Stewart left a recent dinner party thrown by Gwyneth Paltrow before dinner, there was absolutely nothing to do but speculate as to whether the domestic mogul perhaps didn't care for Paltrow's cooking.
It doesn't help matters that the New York Post actually called Paltrow the "next Martha Stewart" this week now that she's released a brand-new, much-anticipated cookbook, My Father’s Daughter. Did such an exaggerated comparison play a role in Stewart's snubbing of Gwyneth?
As it turns out, that couldn't be further from the truth ...
Gwyneth hosted the party in New York City to celebrate her new book, and reportedly Stewart had a drink and left before dinner. According to Stewart's rep, she simply had a previous dinner engagement she couldn't miss; Stewart said she was "sorry she wasn't able to stay, but was happy that she could stop by the party."
Of course, Stewart was missed. But, thankfully, a host of other celebrities were there to hold down the fort. In fact, the party's guest list read like a page straight out of Gwyneth's cookbook -- that lady knows a lot of people (and as we all know by now, she's not above name-dropping!). Jay-Z, Cameron Diaz, Michael Stipe, Jerry Seinfeld and wife, Jessica, and, of course, husband Chris Martin were all there to help celebrate.
I've got to say: All the promotion Gwyneth is doing for her new cookbook is really working. I can't wait to get my hands on it and see what all the excitement is about!
Are you going to buy Gwyneth's new cookbook?
