Is there anything better than a thick, juicy burger? Well, if you're a vegetarian, you can probably think of a few things, but I'm talking to the meat eaters. Nothing better, is there. Food & Wine magazine just published their Best Burgers list and kjkjhfgadfsahtgbd ... oops! ... sorry, drooling on the keys here, things getting a little slippery.
Anyway, the list is a beaut. Burgers from all across the nation were judged and then narrowed down to the 25 best. (In other news, I would like to throw my name in the hat for a judging position next year.)

Freaking In-N-Out Burger. And correct, you did detect a tone there. I'm so depressed. What's a girl to do who doesn't live in the In-N-Out Burger marketplace? I've never had this godsend of a meat sandwich, don't have any trips planned out West, and am pretty much ready to give up on life.
Number two on their list is Minetta Tavern's Black Label Burger here in New York City. Let me tell you a few things about this burger. It doesn't taste like your classic hamburger, which kind of annoys me. It's ... "fancy" ... and it's $26. The burgers are a blend of dry-aged rib eye steak, skirt steak, brisket, and short rib. It is delicious, no doubt about it, but it doesn't bring you to that burger state of mind, where you're a kid by the pool in the summertime, eating burgers and Lays potato chips, dripping ketchup on the hot pavement, just waiting to catch your breath so you can take another bite. The Minetta Tavern burger makes you feel froufrou, chichi, and let's add "jackass" to the list of descriptors since it costs ten times as much as the winning In-N-Out burger.
The rest of the top five burgers are from Holeman & Finch in Atlanta, Ray's Hell Burger in Arlington, Virginia, and Boston's Craigie on Main. Have you had a burger from any of these places?
Just goes to show you that the classic combination of meat + grill = good. It doesn't need to be all dressed up with "caramelized onions" and "brioche buns." In-N-Out has clearly perfected the concept and understands that less actually is more when it comes to making the best hamburger in the nation.

I really like Five Guys here. They make such a great burger and they have the fresh cut fries. Love that place.
You really don't want an in-n-out burger. Their restaurants are DISGUSTING! I have yet to ever see a clean one. And their name, for more than one reason.
The BEST burger is in Sol cal at a place called Umami burger. I crave this burger it is SOOOOOOO good
I don't know what restaurants Anastzia975 has been in and out of (couldn't resist, lol) but all the In-N-Outs in my city are always clean... and friggin delicious! As teens we use to drive two hours to Phoenix just to eat there (before we got our own of course). Sounds so good right now, I think I'll go there for lunch today =)
Woooooo!!!!! Growing up, the closest In-N-Out was 3hours away. We would make special trips just to eat there. lol. I've been dying since we moved to the East Coast. It's like a barren wasteland of un-amazing burgers!
p.s. Anastazia975 is freaking crazy. I've been to MANY In-N-Outs all over California and the only problem I have EVER had is that they gave me the wrong burger ONCE! Not one was ever dirty or disgusting.
