Need a simple, easy dessert that everyone will love? This ice cream sundae dessert is a snap to make, serves a crowd, and is so amazing you may never want regular ice cream again. Okay, sure you will, but this is REALLY good.
Layered with cookies and other sundae toppings, it's a great one to make ahead and freeze until you're ready to serve it. You can tweak it to your own personal taste, but here's the basic recipe, adapted from Taste of Home:
- 20 chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 gallon ice cream softened (any flavor you like will do)
- 1 8-ounce container of frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 2 to 3 tablespoons chocolate syrup
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
In a large bowl, combine cookie crumbs and butter.
Press into a 13-in. x 9-in. dish. Carefully spread ice cream over crust.
Spread whipped topping over ice cream.
Drizzle chocolate syrup on top; sprinkle with nuts.
Freeze until firm, about 2-4 hours.
Remove from the freezer 15 minutes before serving.
I also like to add some fresh chopped fruit before serving. Sprinkles are a fun addition too!
