Oscar Party Menu: Best Eaten in Front of TV, While in PJs

popcornOn Sunday, February 27, you could watch the Oscars the way I usually do -- in my pajamas next to my snoring husband. Or you could throw an Oscars party! Why let the Golden Globes have all the fun?

Alone or with friends, I always feel like popcorn is in order. But if you're throwing a party, you may want some hors d'oeuvres and drinks, too, right?

The Social Network Sushi (Picture, Directing, Film Editing, Original Score)

Oh sure, you could grab some pizza as a lazy way to reference Zuckerberg's college life. But think big. Think: The Fancy Japanese Restaurant Scene, where Sean Parker rattles off a list of dumplings and sushi for the table. Now go to your nearest fancy Japanese restaurant and order five of the most obscure-sounding appetizers and a few rolls as takeout. Serve dressed in your baggiest jeans and Gap sweatshirt.

The King's Speech Trifle (12 nominations)

I wanted to make the old-school English classic dessert trifle over the holidays, but I just never got it together. Did you know there's an entire website dedicated to trifle recipes? Of course there is. Now everyone practice your best Jon-Stewart-doing-the-Queen: "Helloooooooo!"

True Grit Pork 'n Beans (10 nominations)

They don't really eat well out there in the 19th-century Texarcana wilderness (or we could call it Utah, since that's where True Grit was filmed). To make, puncture can of pork 'n' beans with gunshot. Set in fireplace. When hot, open can with hunting knife. Enjoy.

The Seductive Swan (Picture, Actress, Supporting Actress, Director)

Sure, some say Black Swan is the next Showgirls. But what about those costumes -- and the drama? Access your outer innocent perfectionist and your inner dark side with this dramatic cocktail.

1.5 oz. Russian Standard Vodka

5 blackberries

3 oz. lemonade

Muddle four blackberries in bottom of a tumbler. Add ice, Russian Standard Vodka, and lemonade. Garnish with remaining blackberry.

Will you be watching the Oscars this year?
