Has anyone else here read Margaret Atwood's first novel "The Edible Woman"? The protagonist is so wracked with anxiety about her upcoming wedding that she develops a bizarre eating disorder. She cures herself by breaking the engagement, baking a cake of herself and eating it! This summary ruins nothing for those who know that Atwood works her magic beyond this simple plot, making some very interesting points about freedom and self-determination in the midst of feminism's second wave (it was published in 1969). Let us eat cake!
