Hey Food Network: Save 'Ace of Cakes' & Dump These Shows!

ace of cakesSad news this week for the food television viewing public: The original cake show, Ace of Cakes, has been cancelled. Apparently the Food Network decided the show was a little, ahem, stale, and after five years of production, pastry chef Duff Goldman and the staff of Charm City Cakes won't be returning after next season.

Is it just me or is Ace of Cakes one of the better food shows on TV -- at least in the dessert category? In fact, compared to some of the other shows on the Food Network, this show is, well, aces! I adore the channel but some of the shows are like nails-on-a-chalkboard. Here are a few shows we think should get the ax instead.

Semi-Homemade Cooking With Sandra Lee

It's no secret I have a gigantic unrequited female crush on Sandra Lee, but I can understand how she can be an acquired taste for some people. Semi-Homemade, however, is acquired for NO ONE. It's as awful as the tacky tablescapes she never fails to scar us with at the end. I'd absolutely love it if she stuck to Money Saving Meals and writing her fantastic cookbooks and magazine and called it a day.

$40 a Day

Oh, yes, it's still on. Love her or hate her, you've gotta to admit that this particular show with Rachael Ray is absolutely ridiculous. Sure, she only spends a $40 a day, but she walks around every city in America not tipping! Talk about tacky.

Paula's Home Cooking

Love Paula Deen. Love her recipes. But this show, I cannot stand. There's too much butter and too many "y'all's" and too many sexual innuendos and too much flirting with guest chefs. *Shudder*

Guy's Big Bite

People love to hate on Guy Fieri but I've gotta say: Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives is something I definitely enjoy. Sadly, the same cannot be said for Guy's Big Bite.

Are you glad to see Ace of Cakes go or is there another Food Network Show you wish would get cancelled instead?
