Blue cocktailLooking to get down with the Democrats? Or rave with the Republicans? Maybe you're more of an Independent interested in tangoing with the Tea Partiers.

Celebrate today's election results by indulging in creative cocktail recipes perfect for a political party.

Disclaimer: Be smart. Consumption is encouraged AFTER you rock the vote.

The Blue Stater: Looking for something fruity with a bit of a kick? I love this recipe from Marie Claire. This gin drink has the perfect zing to really wow your guests. Garnish with an American flag and a strawberry, and you're all set. Combine the juice of 1/2 lime, 1 tsp. sugar, 1/2 tsp. Canton ginger liqueur, 8 fresh blueberries (muddled), and 2 oz. of 209 gin in a shaker. Fill with ice, shake, and strain into a cocktail glass.

Betsy Ross: I'm not a brandy gal myself, but this is something that will definitely put a little hair on your chest. Combine 1/2 tsp. of triple sec, 2 oz. of brandy, and 1 1/2 oz. of tawny port into a mixing glass filled halfway with crushed ice. Just stir, strain into a cocktail glass, and honor the woman who made the first American flag.

The Red Stater: Really channel your inner Republican with bourbon-based shooter from Marie Claire. Combine 3/4 oz. Wild Turkey 101-proof bourbon with 1/2 oz. vodka, 1 tsp. lemon juice, and 1 tsp. grenadine. Strain into a tall shot glass and you have the perfect shot to start your celebration!

Political Partini: The signature drink for your soiree, the Political Partini is a pear-flavored punch that is sure to satisfy all partisans. Mix 2 parts Grey Goose La Poire vodka with 1/4 part Disaronno liqueur, 1/2 part lemon juice, and 1/4 parts simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Then shake, strain into a martini glass, and garnish your cocktail with a slice of pear.

The Delegate: This tequila-based cocktail out of Los Angeles combines a few of my favorite things. Start by dissolving 1 tbsp. agave nectar into 1 oz. lime juice by stirring. Add 2 oz. tequila and shake mixture. Strain into a salt-rimmed cocktail glass (salivating yet?) and top with 2 oz. cucumber foam.

Muddled Rebuttal: Sip on something sour with this take on a classic vodka lemonade from About.com. Muddle 5 fresh raspberries with 1 tsp. sugar and pour into a glass over crushed ice. Top with 1 1/2 parts Grey Goose Le Citron vodka and some lemonade (depends on how rambunctious you want your rebuttal!) and garnish with a lemon wedge.

Are you a fan of political cocktails? What's your favorite?
