pumpkin cheese ballCheese balls are always a crowd pleaser at parties, and if you plan on entertaining this Halloween weekend, you probably already have your refrigerator stacked with various cheeses. But you can take the party favorite and turn it into a pumpkin-shaped treat.

Just use your favorite cheese ball recipe. I usually combine:

  • 1 8-oz package of cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 2 cups of shredded extra-sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 goat cheese logs (4 oz. each)
  • 1 stick of a unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • Sprinkle of pepper

Mix your favorite ingredients together (if you like bacon or almonds on your cheese ball, throw them into the mix as well -- you won't be rolling the finished product in anything afterwards).

Shape it into a pumpkin shape, and then using your fingers, create grooves down the sides. Stick a pretzel stick and a leafy green at the top, and surround with crackers. If you make ahead of time, store it in the refrigerator and stick the pretzel stick and greens in when you serve.

Happy Halloween!
