chicken nugget goo
This Is a Chicken Nugget. No, Really.
One thing about going vegetarian this month, I don't have to worry about eating chicken nuggets. While we often playfully ask, "What part of the chicken does a nugget come from?" it wasn't until I got a load of this photo over at Gizmodo that I learned the answer to that question.

The truth is not pretty. Please feel free to click over, then return for more disgusting-ness in nugget news.

The fact is an entire chicken is put through the processor: Eyes, beaks, and as my grandmother so politely put it -- the part that goes over the fence last. Then it's mushed up together to create this pink goo.

Disgusted yet? No? Then read on.

The original post at Early Onset of Night explained the whole process of chicken, to pink goo, then nugget. Of course this is a disgusting process, one filled with bacteria and things that might kill you.

There’s more: because it’s crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia, soaked in it, actually. Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color.

Yum! Do you deserve a chicken nugget break today? I hope not, as that means you've done some very bad, bad, bad things.

Are you now off nuggets?
