Got Rotting Bananas? 10 Ways to Turn Waste Into a Magic Ingredient

I don't know if it's because my apartment has been really hot lately or if I've been particularly slow about eating bananas, but I've had two bunches nearly go bad on me in just as many weeks.

Banana Bread is always my go-to recipe for old bananas, but I wanted something different for the second bunch. (A girl can only eat so much banana bread, you know?)

I ended up making Peanut Butter Banana Cream Pie, but there are lots of other options. Here are a solid ten:

Banana Pudding: There's nothing quite like making your own pudding. It's definitely worth the (little) extra effort.

Banana-Black Bean Empanadas: Don't be scared by the word "empanada." It's basically a turnover. And even if you can't find ready-made empanada dough in your grocer's freezer (assuming you're not going to make your own), you can still use puff pastry.

Banana Fritters: A breakfast staple of my childhood.

Banana and Mango Spring Rolls: This comes in especially handy if you happen to have four small ripe Chinese bananas on hand, too.

Bananas Foster Cheesecake: No flambé required.

Chocolate-Dipped Frozen Banana Bites: Cue up Arrested Development and enjoy ...

Sauteed Bananas in Praline Sauce With Vanilla Ice Cream: The poor man's version of Bananas Foster?

Grilled Banana and Nutella Panini: The panini handles dessert.

Banana Split Cake: Forget ice cream. The next time you're craving a split, try this easy dessert.

Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich: Elvis would be proud.

What are your favorite banana dishes?
