Each day brings yet another calorie-busting novelty sandwich threatening to derail our diets and send our blood sugar into a tizzy. Check out the latest: Denny's new Fried Cheese Melt, which is four fried mozzarella sticks with melted American cheese grilled between two slices of sourdough bread.

I'd love to order it with a bowl of tomato soup, but frankly? I'm watching my sodium intake.
The sandwich is one of five new additions to Denny's $2 $4 $6 $8 value menu. I think you can agree that $4 is a small price to pay for a whopping 895 calories (and 34 grams of fat). How does this stack up to other novelty sandwiches?
If we're comparing calories, KFC's Double Down is actually healthier than the Fried Cheese Melt; the infamous bunless sandwich weighs in at 540 calories.
The Lasagna Sandwich will set you back 565 calories -- but not if you vomit it back up.
Allegedly, the Krispy Kreme Cheeseburger served at the Wisconsin State Fair has only 500 calories. Compared to the first three, that's practically spa food!
Carl Jr.'s Footlong Cheeseburger -- at 850 calories -- comes the closest to the Fried Cheese Melt.
But these sandwiches are nothing compared to Friendly's Grilled Cheese BurgerMelt, which is an astounding 1,500 calories.
Would this be a good time to talk about the fries?
Which novelty sandwich is your very favorite?

That looks sooo gross!!!
All of those sandwiches sound awful!!! There's a minor league ball park in Sauget, IL that's been serving the KK hamburger for years. When I first heard about it all I could think was GROSS and I still think that. Even after watching Man Vs. Food Adam eat it.
yuck
Well, I love cheese, so this one from Denny's I would try, if there were a Denny's around me.
Peanut butter and jelly is my favorite of all time.
