Fried chicken and cupcakes are good enough on their own. But together? Now you're talkin'!
Never in my wildest dreams could I have come up with something this intense: Chicken dipped in red velvet cake batter, dredged in toasted, crumbled bits of red velvet cupcake -- then fried.
Wait. There's more ...
It's paired with a side of cream-cheese infused garlic potatoes. You know, because it wouldn't be red velvet without cream cheese.
This stick-to-your-ribs, Southern-fried delicacy sounds like something with Paula Deen's name written all over it, right? But actually the Butter Queen didn't have her hands in this one: It's actually a new dish served at a restaurant called American Cupcake in San Francisco.
Just when we thought the cupcake trend was winding down, now cupcake batter seems to be picking up. But I'm a sucker for anything that combines sweet and savory flavors, so I say: Bring it on!
Would you eat Red Velvet Fried Chicken?

That made me a little queasy. :-/
I'd try it. Probably because I am super hungry right now.. I love chicken & red velvet.. why not!?
I don't think I'd try that - I generally like sweet and savory, but deep fried cake batter just sounds greasy-gross.
Ewwwww........
My first thought was eww, but I think I would be willing to give it a try.
Not feeling this one. Makes my stomach do flip flops...
No it sounds gross.
I don't think so.....
Totally would try this, was actually looking for a recipe... bummer... I will have to try google! :O)
