Whether you're staying home or vacationing, it would be fantastic to save a little bit of your hard-earned money when you head out to eat with the family. Luckily, there are a lot of restaurants that offer a kids eat free program, usually after 4 p.m., but some before!
Most kids' programs are for your little ones ages 10 and under, but call for the details before you belly up to the bar. Also, some locations opt out of the free kids' meal programs, so if you live near an especially grinch-y restaurant, I think you're going to have to start a letter-writing campaign.
Here are 10 restaurants that will save you some bucks when dining out:
No need to check the schedule, every night this summer after 4 p.m., kids will eat free when one adult purchases a meal. Hit your local Coco's as much as you can, because this offer ends August 31.
I absolutely remember eating for free at Denny's as a kid, and they still have the kids eat free program -- two free kid meals after 4 p.m. for every one adult meal purchased. Call your local Denny's before dropping by, because locations do vary the nights that kids can chow down at no cost.
Kids eat free on Tuesdays at Chevy's Fresh Mex. Although, bummer, my old NYC location is not listed as a participant. Read the fine print on the website before demanding a free taco for your little bandito.
In addition to cutting sodium and fat on their kid menu items, Jason's Deli is a trans fat-, high fructose corn syrup-, MSG-free zone. Select locations offer kids' meals free on Sunday or Monday nights as well. Call your local JD and find out when you can get your deal.
Kids eat free at Applebee's when one adult has a meal on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights. Bring the whole family to eat good in the neighborhood, but call first because there are regional differences not outlined on the website.
Unfortunately IHOP doesn't offer free breakfast for the little ones, but select locations offer kids 12 and under free dinner from the kids' menu from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
While your 4 and under child always eats free at the buffet, after 4 p.m. your older kids (still 10 and under) can get one free kids' meal with an adult meal purchased.
A cafeteria from my youth, the regional chain offers super-cheap kid meals for $2.99, but they also have a day or two where kids eat absolutely free. Find your location and Luby's will tell you what day to stop by for a free meal.
Kids eat free on Monday nights where the kids' menu has some healthier options than the usual chain restaurant. But don't worry, the chicken fingers and mac & cheese are still available for your picky eaters.
Have an adventure on Wednesday nights when kids eat free with the purchase of adult meal. Locations have various rules, so call before you head out to the jungle.
