Start celebrating July 4th as soon as you wake up (hey, it is the birth of our nation after all) by turning your typical breakfast foods into patriotic dishes.
Make a variety of cranberry and blueberry muffins, and then sprinkle powdered sugar over the top. Presto, red, white, and blue muffins! You can do the same with blueberry and strawberry pancakes. Another option is drenching blueberry pancakes in strawberry syrup, adding a dollop of whipped cream on top.
Reaching for that Bisquick yet?
A more healthy (though not as fun) route, is designing a flag out of fruit, using sliced strawberries or cherries, blueberries, and okay, whipped cream. Come on now, I can't be entirely healthy ... it's a holiday.
Alright, alright, here's an entirely healthy idea: a red, white, and blue parfait. In individual serving glasses, add a handful of bluberries to each. Top with some vanilla yogurt and then with a handful raspberries.
All of these sound delicious, and I'm definitely trying one (or two) of these this weekend.
