I love me some smoky flavor ... especially on the grill. I found these Apple Wood Gourmet Smoking Chips ($8.99) that I have to have -- like now.
They are perfect for adding a gourmet taste to plain ol' grilled items, and I spotted them just before July 4th, the biggest grilling day of the season. Score!
And I'm not going to lie, the first thing that popped into my head was: "Can I grill bacon?"
But wanna know the best part ...
You can toss these babies directly on top of your charcoal ... seriously!
If you are using a gas grill, you'll need a smoker box like this Stainless Steel Smoker Box from Williams-Sonoma that I raved about in the beginning of the summer.
Try adding flavor to some of our Meals With Mileage grilled items like BBQ chicken, shrimp, fish, and even grilled peaches.
Would you ever try adding flavor with smoking chips?

I am not a fan of the smoked flavor but if you like it, I am telling you...the easiest way to get it is by using the metal trash can. It made the meat so tender and it really had the smoked flavor. I bet you could add these chips to the inside of the trash can to get the flavor in there.
