By now you know my obsession with all things spicy, salty, and citrusy.
My mouth waters just thinking of that combo.
The other weekend I was at the Hester Street Fair in NYC and there was a stand called La Newyorkina selling gourmet popsicles in yummy flavs like spicy mango, fresh tamarind, hibiscus, pineapple mint, pecan, and horchata.
Guess what I beelined it for ... yep, mango con chile.
Here's how to make it at home ...
Chili Mango Lime Popsicles
- 2 cups fresh mangos, peeled and pitted
- 3 limes, juiced
- 2 Tb sugar
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tsp salt
In a blender, puree the mango ... add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup water if the puree is really thick. You want to be able to pour it into popsicle molds.
Add in the lime juice, sugar, chili, cayenne, and salt and pulse again to mix.
Fill popsicle molds and freeze for 3-4 hours until firm.
If not everyone shares your love of salty, spicy things, keep the salt, cayenne, and chili to the side and mix in a bowl. Let your family sprinkle as much or as little as they like on top of the pop.
Up next in my popsicle mold -- mojito!

Yum!I have never made homemade popsicles but this one sounds yummy I also like the sound of the pineapple mint
I've made home made popsicles, but from juice, so it's probably still "kid style" but that's OK. They're tasty.
Sounds good
