Baked Green Tomatoes: Sweeten Up Your Sides

If you didn't devour all those green tomatoes from yesterday's recipe, you'll definitely want to try this other way to cook them up.

Yesterday was all about savory fried goodness, but today I'm baking them and putting a sweet spin on it.

Find out what I'm using for these sugary baked green tomatoes ...


Sweet Baked Tomatoes

  • 3 to 4 green tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup coarse buttery cracker crumbs
  • 4 tablespoons butter

Start by slicing tomatoes into discs and place flat in a baking dish.

Salt and pepper to taste and add about 1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar to each slice.

Then sprinkle with cracker crumbs (just crush up some Ritz or similar crackers) and dot with butter.

Bake at 350 degrees about 20 to 25 minutes until browned and bubbly.
