(Thanks to Fabulously Healthy for the tip!)
Jeff Yeager, the green cheapskate, points out how this isn't just an exercise in saving money, but finding affordable items that make up the food pyramid.
Yeager also offers great tips on buying loss leaders, like turkey, after Thanksgiving for super-cheap and throwing that bird in the freezer. I also love barley as a substitute for potatoes. Grains can go a long way in stretching the family dollar.
I know I'll be on the lookout for inexpensive asparagus deals to blanch and freeze and checking the broccoli for sales on a regular basis.
What's the best deal you've found at the grocery store?
