Last week Amy Jo wrote about her famous Tex-Mex Turkey Burger; today I'm chiming in with my recipe for Turkey Burgers With Barbecue Sauce and Cilantro. After all, you can never have too many turkey burgers -- especially with Memorial Day just around the corner!
- 1 egg white
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
- 2 to 3 tablespoons diced red onion
- 1 pinch hot red pepper flakes or ground chipotle pepper
- 1 to 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 pound ground turkey
Combine all ingredients except turkey. Stir well. Add turkey. Mix loosely with hands until just combined. Form patties (about 4 to 5). Cook on grill over medium-high heat until done (about 4 to 5 minutes on each side). Be sure patties are thoroughly cooked (no pink in the middle like hamburgers). Serve on whole wheat buns.
