I grew up associating Jell-O with Bill Cosby, and now my children may too. After a 10-year hiatus, Cosby and Kraft Foods are joining forces again for a Hello JELL-O campaign.
I knew Cosby's commercials by heart. I wanted so badly to be one of the giggling kids eating pudding with him, but I had to settle for pudding in a cloud with my friends.
When I first saw the commercial for Jell-O pudding pops, I thought I would die if I wasn't able to try one RIGHT AWAY. My mom tortured me by making me wait until they went on sale or she got a coupon or some such nonsense. When I finally had a box in my very own freezer, I thought I was the luckiest kid in the world ... except those in the commercials with Cosby.
Bill Cosby won't appear in the commercials this time (boo!), but rather serve as the executive producer for the campaign and will help find America's best gigglers to star in them. They'll be holding open auditions in 22 cites, so get your giggler ready!
Jell-O will also sponsor Cosby's new web show OBKB in which he'll interview children.
"You watch TV, all these reality shows, and profanity and things like that, we need to show the heart and the laughter that children have," he told CBS News.
A sweet sentiment, indeed.
How do you feel about Bill Cosby teaming up with Jell-O again?
