We've given tips on flying kites, but this party takes kite-flying to a whole new level. San Diego photographer, Jackie Wonders, captured her friend Elizabeth's daughter's third birthday party and featured it on her photography blog. The kite theme is too cute!

The birthday girl Hailey's favorite color is orange, which is pretty clear in all of the decor. Even the food and drinks were orange!

Elizabeth created the beautiful invitations for her daughter's party. Wow! Though she is the owner of the super-chic stationery boutique Posh Paperie, so knowing that keeps me from comparing my skills (or lack thereof) to hers. Thank goodness, because this mama is talented.

Pinwheels made for fun themed decor and doubled as take-home toys for the kids. And what's a kite party without some kite-flying? You can have the kids design their own kites using kite kits ($9.99 for 12 at Oriental Trading). Be sure to have a few regular kites for the adults ... we like to have fun too! These also make for cute party favors.

Weather permitting, this is such a good idea for a spring birthday party! I loved flying kites as a kid, so a party like this would bring back so many great memories.

Do your kids enjoy flying kites? Did you ever fly a kite growing up?
