Easy Easter Appetizer: Asparagus Wraps

Yesterday we made an easy Easter side dish with asparagus ... Today, we're using our very versatile Ingredient of the Week to make an easy appetizer for the big day.

You can make this starter with only two ingredients: asparagus and prosciutto. But I like to go the extra mile, wrapping the asparagus in meat AND buttery crescent rolls -- trust me, it's beyond fabulous.

Asparagus Wraps

  • 1 lb. asparagus, washed and trimmed
  • 1 package refrigerated crescent rolls
  • Mustard
  • 6-8 slices of prosciutto, Serrano ham, or regular ham, cut into long, thin strips

Wrap one strip of prosciutto/ham around each asparagus spear, starting at the bottom, and spiraling up to the tip.

Unroll crescent dough. Using a sharp knife, cut dough into long, thin strips. Spread each strip with a very thin layer of mustard. Wrap one strip of dough around each asparagus spear (over-top of the ham), spiraling as before.

Place wrapped spears on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 until rolls are browned and asparagus is tender -- about 10-12 minutes.

Which appetizers do you like to serve on Easter?
