Stop the madness! The current issue of Self magazine purports to have Gwyneth Paltrow on its cover, but to me it looks more like a wax museum statue of the actress/singer/Goopy expert. Will we ever stop getting these crazily airbrushed versions of already beautiful people? EVER?

I just hate, hate, hate the message that the Self cover (and so many covers like it) sends. Paltrow is a gorgeous woman (however annoying you may find the Goopster, you have to admit she’s purty) who is in incredible shape. And they STILL have to Photoshop her almost beyond recognition. What does that say for the rest of us?

Gwyneth Paltrow dropped a bit of a bombshell over the weekend. She's talked about why she hasn't had a third baby before, but she's said it's because her kids are older now and, well, she's older now, too. She just turned 40 this year -- which is by no means "old," but it does put her into a risk category. But it turns out she actually did try for that third baby. And Paltrow suffered a traumatic miscarriage which she says was nearly fatal.

Gwyneth told the Daily Mail, "I had a really bad experience when I was pregnant with my third. It didn't work out and I nearly died." Good grief! Meanwhile, her kids are asking for a new baby sister or brother. What should she do?

Confession: While I've been known to poke fun at Gwyneth Paltrow now and again (come on, it's like shooting fish(mongers) in a barrel!), I find myself hesitating to criticize her latest cookbook craze/crazy cookbook. It's All Good is all about how getting rid of gluten, sugar, meat, eggs and dairy has revolutionized her health -- not to mention the health of her unwittingly-along-for-the-ride family. Most of the flack Paltrow is fielding has to do with her admission that occasionally, yes, her kids get really hungry. And while, as a mom, I'm not so sure what I think about whether elimination diets are appropriate for kids, I have to admit ... I lived the gluten/dairy/egg/meat-free way for a while myself, and I felt ... mostly ... all good.

I wasn't trying to be cool or anything -- my doctor at the time suggested the diet as a remedy for what he suspected was celiac disease, a digestive disorder triggered by gluten intolerance.

Gwyneth Paltrow has a new cookbook coming out next month. Yay! It's called It's All Good, only it's not exactly about "it" being "all good." She probably should have called it "It's all good except for gluten, meat, eggs, dairy, and sugar." The book is full of recipes that conform to the elimination diet her doctor put her on. And what's good for Mama is good for the kids, too, right? Gwyn put the whole family on the diet -- yes, including her kids.

Well, good for her, feeding her kids healthy, wholesome foods. But did Gwyneth go too far with her kids' low-carb diet? She admits in her book, "Sometimes when my family is not eating pasta, bread, or processed grains like white rice, we’re left with that specific hunger that comes with avoiding carbs." That part made me cringe. Hungry kids? Oh no!

Newsflash! Gwyneth Paltrow admits she isn't perfect, acknowledges fashion faux pas! Shocking, but true. Just days after the Oscars, Gwyneth discussed the infamous see-through goth gown she wore 11 years ago. You remember the one? Black, totally sheer top with no bra, long, heavy black skirt, baffling braided hairdo. Gwyneth doesn't make fashion missteps very often, but when she does... wowza! She goes all the way.

Well, I guess she's finally ready to talk about it -- on the virtual pages of Goop, of course. This week's issue is all about fashion, and she interviews some of her favorite tastemakers (including herself). But the best part, of course, is where she talks about that dress.

You guys, I just heard the most exquisite rumor: Gwyneth Paltrow is doing a cameo on Downton Abbey! Star is reporting that with Iron Man wrapped up, Gwyneth wants to focus on TV, and she practically is an English aristocrat herself in all but title and citizenship, and well never mind that, "so it’s no surprise that she begged for a role on the U.K. show Downton Abbey ... and got it!” Squee! And the best part of this rumor? It's totally false.

Oh I know. I'm disappointed, too. Gossip Cop asked a rep of Gwyneth's about the rumored cameo and they were told it's simply not true. Pooh! But that's not going to stop me from talking about what a BRILLIANT (please read that word in a British accent for me, won't you darling?) idea it would be for Gwynnie to appear on Downton.

Remember back when Beyonce was still pregnant with Blue Ivy and Gwyneth Paltrow practically smothered her to death with Goop-y goodwill? Drink wheatgrass! Meditate! Soak your feet in ice water!! And Beyonce was all, Thanks, but I'll stick with pickles and Oreos. Well, word has it Gwynnie has found yet another celeb in desperate need of her wisdom -- only this time the topic isn't "How to Have a Perfect Pregnancy," it's "How to Have an Organic, Enlightened Midlife Crisis." Or something to that effect.

Who's in crisis? None other than Cameron Diaz, who apparently is having some issues with settling down since she turned 40 and broke up with Alex Rodriguez and hooked up with P. Diddy (possibly). Those "issues" being that Diaz still parties like a swinging single when Paltrow knows she would be soooo much happier and more fulfilled if she settled down with a nice Brit and had babies and found a good fishmonger.

Gwyneth Paltrow is pretty much the queen of dieting. Ms. Goop knows everything there is to know about juice cleansing, working out, and how to do it in the cutest workout clothes that ever existed. Which is why I can hardly believe my eyes after reading Paltrow's plans for 2013. The actress writes, "I am not on a detox. I am not on a diet. I know, New Year's cleaning and all that. Not this year. Can't do it. Maybe later in the year. Maybe in the spring."

Like, WHAT?! It all just seems so ... unnatural. Here's the thing, though. Even though Gwyneth swears she's not going to be on a diet, I don't believe her. Heck, I'm gonna go right ahead and call her bluff. It is impossible for Gwyneth Paltrow NOT to diet, and here's why:

As far as kids are concerned, parents are just plain embarrassing. Even if your parents are Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin! Check out the family dance they had on New Year's Eve. Naturally this party included Jay-Z and a live, screaming audience. But that didn't keep the dorkifying at bay. Oh no. Dork dancing was in full flow that night.

Buzzfeed is mocking Gwyneth for her "mom dancing" -- but have you noticed Chris Martin? Coldplay fans, does he always do that pogo-stick-less jump all over the stage? Is he having Fishbone fantasies? Once upon a time Chris was a cool rock star. But with his kids up there on stage with him, he's just another goofball dad gettin' all CRAYZEE to his kids' unrelenting humiliation.

I've never really understood why Gwyneth Paltrow gets so much hate. Okay, her faux-semi-British accent is kind of annoying, but hey, she's married to a Brit and spends a lot of time in London. And, yeah, GOOP is head-scratchy with its ludicrously overpriced white T-shirts and laughably unrealistic mom tips, but Gwynnie isn't the first one to present a lifestyle that most women couldn't realistically ever do. On the whole, Gwyneth is pretty tolerable. She doesn't run around racking up DUIs and crotch shots, and she's intelligent, well-spoken, and has actual talent. So why all the hate? Could it be -- jealousy? Well, yeah. It could. And probably is. At 40 years old, Gwyn looks amazing. (Look at those buff arms!) And she's incredibly stylish. And she's got one of the most long-lasting celebrity marriages around. That's why these latest comments of hers about her marriage have me going ... Gulp. Could Gwyn and hubby Chris Martin be on the rocks?
