I have found that I have absolutely nothing to talk about now that the Olympic Games have come to a close.
No thrilling victory to gab about, no "Oh my gosh, did you see that wipeout?" to discuss. Nope, it's back to the same ol' blah routine and the dinner table isn't quite as interactive as it has been for the past two weeks.
But even though our favorite athletes are no longer racing down the slopes of Whistler, there are still many stories that will live on, long after the Olympic flame has gone out in Vancouver.
- Canadian ice skater Joanie Rochette won the world's heart after performing beautifully, winning the bronze, just two days after her mother's death.
- Shaun White wins gold and, during his celebration run, nails his dangerous Double McTwist 1260 move.
- Apollo Ohno becomes the most decorative American Winter Olympian of all-time with eight medals.
- Rivalry between American teammates Julia Mancuso and Lindsey Vonn heat up after Vonn crashes and, theoretically, causes Mancuso from placing.
- Genius Dutch skater, Sven Kramer, coasts in the wrong lane, obviously getting disqualified and costing himself the gold.
- Steve Holcomb leads the U.S. four-man bobsled to gold...the first time in over sixty years.
- In men's figure skating, American Evan Lysacek beats cocky Russian Yevgeny Plushenko, who's dominated in the sport for the past several years.
- Team Canada wins the gold in OT against the USA men's hockey team in what will go down as one of the best games in hockey history.
- Bode Miller owns up to his perceived reputation by winning three medals, one in each color.
- Pregnant Canadian curler, Kristie Moore, wins a medal.
