After much ado, NBC reached a $45 million late night settlement with Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien: He will leave NBC with $33 million in his pocket; the rest of the money will go to his staff as severance.

The red-headed talk host will do his last Tonight Show on Friday with guests Tom Hanks and Will Ferrell, according to Entertainment Weekly:

“In the end, Conan was appreciative of the steps NBC made to take care of his staff and crew, and decided to supplement the severance they were getting out of his own pocket,” Gavin Polone, O’Brien’s manager told TheWrap. “Now he just wants to get back on the air as quickly as possible.”

And it looks like Jay Leno will step back in the role that led to the Number One rating slot since the day he took over the Tonight Show till the day he left seven months ago.

Not all moms are thrilled with the news:

"I am on team Conan," says a mom in the CafeMom Newcomer's Club. "I think he is much funnier and deserves to be hosting the show. He waited do many years for this chance and now he is going to have it taken away after not even a year. That seems unfair to me. Needless to say, I will not be watching the Tonight Show if Jay Leno returns hosting it."

NBC is expected to make an official announcement today.
