Every year, after the holiday festivities have ended for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, my cousins and I always go see a movie afterwards, no "adults" allowed.
Yes, I am an adult, but it makes it more fun for the younger ones (the youngest is 14) to say this because they feel like they're getting away from their parents to hang out with their "older but cool" relatives.
This holiday tradition started when I was 16-years-old and was able to drive (I'm the oldest cousin) and we always go see the major blockbuster that's out (this year, we will no doubt see New Moon after our Thanksgiving meal).
Since it's always packed at the theater, I'm assuming this is a tradition for a lot of families.
Do you go to the movies after the holiday festivities wind down?

We never go to the movies...way too expensive and uncomfortable seats. I'd rather wait for the DVD to come out and watch in the comfort of my home.
When I was 13 or 14 me and my brother did go to the movies on Christmas Day. We were on the phone talking to some friends (my brother's best friend and his older brother who was sort of my boyfriend at the time). A couple hours later their parents picked us up and drove us to the mall to see a movie.
We had a blast. The theater was actually pretty busy but the mall was obviously closed. I have no clue what we saw (that was a loooong time ago) but we had a lot of fun and then wandered around the empty parking lot for awhile before taking the bus back to our house. After that my mom drove them home. I think we did it again the next Christmas.
Growing up my family and I always hit the movie theater after Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. It was just something we did as a family. My kids are really too young to be going to the theater and my husband thinks it's dumb. I'd really like to start some sort of tradition with the kids...but then again my husband thinks "traditions" are dumb. I don't know what to do with him! I loved all my family traditions...especially going to the movies on holidays because other then that we never went. It was a special occassion for us.
i dont think ive ever gone to the movies on a holiday. growing up we were either at home with extended family or had traveled to see family. we ate, spent time to together, and if it was Christmas, played with our toys.
my grandma and grandpa go to the movies every Christmas day... they dont have anything else to do after morning gift unwrapping (if they come to watch) so why not!
My husband and I leave Lydia with her grandparents and head out to see a movie after Thanksgiving meals. This year we are going to see The Blind Side since I didn't get to see it last week due to the rabid twilight fans. :P
We always go out after holiday dinners to see a movie...We also rent lots of holiday favorites as well to watch at home!
We have never went to see on a holiday... i have always wanted too.
I'm a manager at a theatre. Please don't do this!
