Do You Play an Instrument?

I am completely musically-challenged. No solos for me in the school play.

I always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. I managed to learn one song, my favorite, Free Falling by Tom Petty (though, it's literally three chords played over and over again, not exactly hard). I tried to learn others, but I just couldn't do it.

TeensMom07 asked moms if they played an instrument in Answers. Wow, there's a lot of talented mamas on here!

MommyAddie: Trumpet, flute, guitar, piano, and drums. My husband plays a few too.

Luvmylilmonkies: Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, English Horn, French Horn, Saxophone, Clarinet, and Trumpet. I love music! My kids will sit and listen to me play for at least an hour! It was one of the only ways to calm them down when they were babies.

ThaMCE: I started playing the flute in the 5th grade, dabbled in the violin and viola, then went on to play bass guitar and guitar since I was 15. I can play the piano by ear, and have been involved in a couple of drum/percussion ensembles in high school. I don't have a lot of time to play anymore, but my baby gets a kick out of my guitar.

I'm with Cindy2360 whe she says, "I can play the radio, CD player and tape deck. Does that count?" Haha!!

Do you know how to play an instrument? If so, which ones?

I played flute in 5th grade, violin all through high school including 3 years in the school orchestra, can play the piano but only with my right hand (I just cant get the 2 hand thing down).  I also taught myself to play the recorder last year.  I never learned in school but my husband had one from when he was in school and my youngest was playing with it (she calls it her whistle) so I looked online for some music and instructions and taught myself to play it in one day.  Well, I can play Jingle Bells on it, lol.  My kids think Im the coolest.

I play the violin. It's been awhile, it's in my closet waiting for me. My husband plays the saxaphone. He doesn't have one but I am hoping some day he can get one ;).

My mom wanted me to play piano. I was too busy climbing trees, riding my bike, playing kickball...etc. I did play the Glockenspiel in 5th and 6th grade band. And tried my hand at guitar. I used to be able to sing, also. I have a Hammered Dulcimer that we pluck now and then around Christmas. Eash song tells you whick string to pluck so it's a no brainer.

Now I wish I took piano (I can sound some songs out but no chords). I would love to be able to play Beethovens "Moonlight Sonanta".

I can play the piano well enough to teach people. I played the sax years ago and can still make some recognizable music when I am around one... lol I was also able to pick up a flute and play it in college... I believe piano makes it easy to play a lot of instruments.

Although I was always more into singing and dancing then playing an instrument. I would love to play the guitar because it is easier to compose music with than a piano and much easier to transport! lol
