Whitney Houston: I Will Always Love Her

Kim Conte

Whitney Houston's new album, I Look to You, is releasing today. It's her first record in seven years. Not to be too dramatic about it, but I have been waiting for this day for years and years and years.

Whitney's debut album, Whitney Houston, was my first cassette tape EVER. Probably, the only thing I listened to more than her first album, was her second, Whitney. (Did that girl know how to title albums or what?). After that, I was obsessed: I made up dance moves to all of her songs, watched all her movies, read all of her interviews. I'll admit it, I had a major girl crush on Whitney Houston—which was why I was so heartbroken when things started to go downhill for her...

Houston pretty much disappeared from the music scene from 2002 until recently, allegedly due to an addiction to crack cocaine. Many fans remember the infamous reality TV show Being Bobby Brown with her (now) ex-husband Bobby Brown—I have tried to block that train-wreck of a show from my mind. Let's never speak of it again.

Needless to say I was all to happy to hear that Whitney divorced from Bobby in 2006. Now, she looks great and reportedly sounds great, too! I always knew she would make a comeback! See her perform songs from her new album on the season premiere of The Oprah Winfrey Show, on Sept. 14. I'll be watching!

Do you love Whitney Houston as much as I do? Are you excited for the new album?
