The booming voice of infomercial salesman Billy Mays was sadly silenced this past weekend. Mays was found dead in his home on Sunday morning.

And of some concern, was his death somehow the result of his recent rocky airplane landing the night prior to his death, in which falling items hit him in the head?

The evening prior to his death, Mays was on a US Airways flight that experienced a difficult landing at Tampa International Airport when the airplane's front tire blew out.

After the landing, Billy Mays himself recalled the landing in an interview on WTVT, a local Tampa TV station. Mays said, "All of a sudden as we hit — you know it was just the hardest hit — all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

Mays, 50 years old, was best known for belting out his commercial sales pitches for OxiClean detergent and Orange Glo.

Sheesh, I don't even want to check Entertainment news for a bit. So much sad news this week.

Our condolences go out to Mays' family...
