Rihanna is back with Chris Brown, which makes me very sad for her and for many girls who look up to her. Rihanna is a role model for teen girls, whether she likes it or not. Her actions with Chris Brown send a powerful message that it's okay to let a man hit you.

Celebrities have great power and influence on our children and teens. A few celebrities speaking out against domestic violence or shunning Chris Brown would be a powerful statement.

As a mom raising girls, I want to know why celebrities don't speak out about the Chris Brown situation? Why are so many celebs being so PC? The silence is deafening.

There is a serious problem with teen girls and domestic abuse in our culture. The fact that Rihanna got back with Chris so soon is not a good signal for teen girls who look up to her.

I'm sure this won't make me popular with some readers but as a mom, I'm with Roseanne Barr on the whole Chris Brown and Rihanna situation:

Chris Brown’s lies and excuses make me want to beat the crap out of him…he uses the language of the perpetrator just like every sleazy bastard who ever smacked his wife, kid, mother or girlfriend around uses...IT’S YOUR FAULT, Ass****!

Alarming numbers of teens experience and accept abusive behavior in dating relationships. Young women ages 16 to 24 experience the highest rates of abuse in a romantic relationship, when compared to other age groups. For an overview the problem, read Bid Kid Buzz's Teen Dating Abuse: What Is It?

I created a poll about Rihanna and Chris Brown getting back together. Many of the women on CafeMom believe she made a mistake.

Poll Results: Should Rihanna Get Back with Chris Brown?

  •  2% answered Yes.
  • 47% answered No.
  • 30% said It's her business, but I think it's too soon.
  • 20% answered the matter was None of my business.

I know that mothers and the women who interact with girls are the most powerful role models but it's hard to ignore the celebrities. They are everywhere 24/7 on our TV, our mobile phones, our computers!

I am sad for Rihanna's choice but I'm really upset that it sends such a loud message to so many girls.

Am I the only one who feel this way? Am I the only one who thinks some celebrities speaking out would be a good thing?
