In 2009, I want to create our very own list of  Cafe Mom Weekend Movie Picks! More on this later but until I get our list going, I offer you some picks from Pajiba.

This blog is my favorite movie review site and one of the best Pajiba columns is the Hangover Theater series. All moms know that taking care of kids without a break can sometimes make you feel as if you have a hangover...so these picks are perfect even if you didn't tie one on the night before!

The experts at Pajiba examine the Saturday/Sunday afternoon and evening cable schedule, and they offer up the weekend’s best hangover remedy: A cable comfort that you can watch from your couch!  Here are some of the excellent movie picks!

Better Off Dead

My BFF and I can still recite this movie, line-by-line, because it's still one of my faves. This movie cracks me up and is John Cusack at his finest. Tell me you love this movie. Lie to me if you have to.

The Secret of My Success

An 80's classic! Even if you hate this movie, the 1980-ish fashion, references are worth watching. It's so bad it's good!

So I Married an Axe Murderer

I love Mike Meyers! I love this movie for some of the weird moments in it. My husband grits his teeth when I find this movie on cable because he knows I'll make him watch it again!

Top Gun

Before Maverick was a Nazi, he was a fighter pilot. Remember when Tom Cruise was actually cool?

What do you think? I'd love to get your picks on your favorite couch potato movies!

I have a hard time getting myself to sit still long enough to watch a whole movie at home (we won't mention that I could sit for a day-long Top Chef marathon, commercials and all ... jumping up just for more snacks to see me through).  However, I LOVE the movie "Love Actually" with Hugh Grant. I'm not one of those people who will run out to see just any old Hugh Grant film, but this one is my favorite.

And my hubby rolls his eyes every time I roll with laughter over "The Sweetest Thing" with Christina Applegate.  That movie cracks me up!!!!  The scene with the foil swan leftovers in the car?? Hilarious!  And how about those dresses and hats that they wear to the wedding?  AHHH! And the preacher!!! Sh.  Shhh.  T-t-t-t-t-.  I'm cracking up just thinking about that!

Great topic!  I prefer this conversation to the potty training ones.

"Hotel Rawanda and Sometimes in April"  these two are Tear jerkers  but both are true stories and very good.

Better Off Dead is a classic in our family! We love it. I first saw it in the eighties - I bought it and it never gets old.  Sixteen Candles, too. Unfortunately we discovered some of the content is not suitable for my grandchildren (in grade school) and that is too bad because its so funny. Meatballs is another favorite ....but it,too, is too raunchy for kids.
