Chris Soules' Engagement Could Totally Ruin His Season of 'The Bachelor'

Chris Soules

Uhhhhhh, what? Maybe I was half asleep during Andi Dorfman's season of The Bachelorette (for good reason), but am I the only person who had no clue that new Bachelor Chris Soules has been engaged before?

Yep. As far as I can remember, he never mentioned it on the show, but it seems that the farmer almost had a wife at some point in his past.

Supposedly he was set to wed but then broke off the engagement "months before he was expected to walk down the aisle."

Oh, and while his relationship with his fiancée was "good," apparently it wasn't "great," which is presumably why he signed up to try and find said greatness on national television.

And while plenty of dudes have been in serious relationships in the past where they almost wound up getting married, I can't help but wonder how well this bodes for Chris getting down on one knee at the final rose ceremony this time around.

More from The Stir: Chris Soules Is the New 'Bachelor' but His Intentions May Surprise You

I mean, we can probably assume he dated his old fiancée for longer than a few weeks, and he still wasn't confident about marrying her. How in the heck is he supposed to be all gung-ho to get hitched after only going on a few fantasy dates?

Maybe he'll get lucky and fall head over heels at first sight, but let's be honest -- the odds of finding your one true love in a matter of weeks are pretty slim to none, especially if you're a guy who is as serious as Chris when it comes to matters of the heart.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how his season pans out. But something tells me farmer Chris may wind up leaving The Bachelor as a dude with a girlfriend, not a future wife.

Do you think Chris being engaged before is a bad sign?

Well that's just silly. If you're engaged once that means you're ruined for life with no possibility of "I needed to grow up a little more" or "we weren't right for each other and recognized it before the wedding"? I don't understand the manufactured controversy here.

I Don't think he would of gave up on his first engagement if he thought it was right completely. Better to be sure then a messy Devorce ... Geesh let's get real people...

I THINK THEY SHOULD GET SOME ONE ELSE. BEFORE THAT LADY GETS HER HEART BROKEN. JUST SAYING.

i think thats just crazy...so what if he didnt marry her we dont know the details. maybe he wants to be the nice guy and not call his x out. i dont think anyone should be getting a ring after 8 weeks or after the short amount of time they really get to spend together but atleast he can see if tgere is a spark of something with someone and build from that

Maybe before you write some ridiculous article you should least know the facts. He did tell Andi about his previous engagement on the bachelorette, but who cares? He didn't think it was right after all.

I'd love to see a bachelor where they have an average Joe with a group of 25 average looking women.....nobody famous, nobody that's been on the show before. The girls they have are all skinny beautiful girls. Give the average girls a chance.

Whom ever is writing this garbage needs to grow up!!!

Julie I agree with you that we need a man of color.  I think we should give him a chance. He is gracious and good looking.  I think this season will be good.
