Earlier this summer, former besties Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato turned frenemies when Demi inexplicably unfollowed Selena on Twitter, and the posted (and deleted) a nasty vague message that may, or may not have been aimed at ex-BFF.
Well, Demi went on Watch What Happens Live on Thursday, August 14, and confessed to host Andy Cohen why she and Selena aren't close anymore. Sort of.
The "Really Don't Care" singer was playing Plead the Fifth with Andy, when she was asked about her relationship with Justin Bieber's on again/off again girlfriend.
"I plead the sixth if that's in the game," the 21-year-old said. "I think its just one of those things where people change and people grow apart." We're not really sure what "plead the sixth" means, but hey, not everyone can be a constitutional scholar.
Anyway, we've been speculating that the whole Biebs thing had something to do with the split, after Demi posted and deleted, "Swimming away from the bulls--t bye b---h."
It was only six months prior to that that she seemed to have Selena's back when Bieber was arrested for a DUI in Miami in January. They'd been spotted out at dinner around that time, quite possibly with Demi consoling Selena over her bratty ex-boyfriend. But we'll never know for sure.
It's sad but -- friends do sometimes grow apart. Even lifelong ones, as this pair was, ever since meeting as children on the set of Barney and Friends. Dang, you'd think if you could survive a big purple dinosaur together, you could survive anything. Maybe that's just how much bad news Biebs is. But that's just a personal opinion.
The day after that dinner in Hollywood, Demi told Ryan Seacrest, "We're really, really close ... and any advice I had for her, we talked last night and it's between us. But I love her so much."
Do you think this friendship breakup was over Justin Bieber?
