Yowza! Jamie Dornan may not be everyone's first choice to play Christian Grey in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, but according to the movie's screenwriter, Kelly Marcel, Dornan's performance in the performance is worthy of an Oscar, if you know what I'm saying. During a recent Q&A, Marcel was asked how difficult it was to write the sex scenes for the movie, to which, she admitted, not all that difficult, being that she had the very descriptive book to use as a template. She then referenced a very specific (very dirty) scene from the book, which made it into the film, and said that Dornan's acting in the scene is Academy Award-worthy!
When Marcel was asked about the following line from the book -- "Mmmm ... he's soft and hard at once, like steel encased in velvet, surprisingly tasty, salty, and smooth. He's my own Christian Grey-flavored popsicle" -- she revealed that that line, or part of it, made the cut. "She says that, 'You are my popsicle.' That line went in, it's genius," Marcel noted. "They apparently did that scene great. Apparently Jamie is great at being soft and hard at the same time. Which is hard to do for an actor! He's going to get an Oscar!"
Whoa, what?! What does that even mean? How far did the actors take things?!
Being that Marcel wrote the script, of course she's going to toot Jamie's horn (heh), but I've gotta say: I'm pretty intrigued after hearing that Jamie deserves an Oscar for his "hard and soft" performance -- mainly because I have no idea what she's talking about. Sounds kinda hot, though.
We still have a ways to go before the movie is released in February, so we'll have to use our imagination until then -- or hope that another trailer comes out soon that gives away a hint as to what exactly Jamie did in this scene ...
Do you think Jamie Dornan is right for the role of Christian?
