Dwayne JohnsonDwayne Johnson revealed some devastating news on Saturday, when he took to his Instagram to post that his mom, Ata, and cousin, Lina Fanene, were struck by a drunk driver earlier this week. Thankfully, both survived, but it obviously shook everyone up.

The Rock shared a picture of the vehicle wreckage, and from how nasty it looked, it's a miracle both women made it out alive. He shared that their car was struck head on by someone under the influence, and took the opportunity to share some inspirational thoughts.

The actor and WWE star posted about his beloved mom and WWE NXT Diva cousin, "My mom & cousin @linafanene were struck head on by a drunk driver this week - they lived. First reaction is to find the person who did this and do unrelenting harm to them. But then you realize the most important thing is my family lived thru this and we can hug each other that much tighter these days. Hug your own family tighter today and be grateful you can tell them you love them. #BearHugsAndGratitude"

I think Johnson's initial thoughts echo what most people would feel after a loved one was hurt by someone who made the stupid, thoughtless, and downright selfish decision to get behind the wheel while intoxicated. It's natural to want to retaliate against people who hurt us.

But the star showed what's really important to him by putting the focus back on his family, and just being so grateful that they're alive. I love his "bear hugs" hashtag too -- I bet hugging that guy is about the closest thing you can get to an actual bear hug!

It's obvious Johnson has an affectionate relationship with his mom. On Mother's Day this year, he posted this sweet photo (obviously from the set of something) of them together, with the message, "Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful mamas out there. We love and honor you! And to my amazing mama who taught me one of life's greatest lessons... Its nice to be important, but it's even more important to be nice. (I'm still workin' on that "nice" part;) #LoveUMom #HappyMothersDay"

So sweet, and so glad everyone is OK!

Have you ever known someone hurt by a drunk driver? What was your reaction?
