Dakota Johnson Refuses to Let Mom See '50 Shades of Grey'

fifty shades trailer

If you live on planet Earth and happen to own a computer, most likely you've seen by now that the highly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey movie trailer is out. Yes indeed, after months and months of speculation, cast shakeups, and endless rumors, fans of the steamy, poorly written series got their first look at Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. The response was definitely divided, but one thing's for sure -- it's gonna be raunchy!

So it makes perfect sense why Dakota doesn't want her famous mom, Melanie Griffith, checking out the movie. Seriously, who could blame her? "[Dakota] was like, 'You guys cannot come. There's no way.' So we're not going," Melanie told said. Guess she and ex-husband Don Johnson won't be attending a screening of the flick any time soon!

However, Griffith knows what her daughter is in for too: "I did go visit for a couple of days when they were shooting just normal stuff. I did see the Room of Pain -- I did go in there and check it out." Can't even imagine what went through her mind when she saw that setup!

Considering what Melanie is going through in her personal life -- divorcing Antonio Banderas after 18 years of marriage -- perhaps seeing her daughter naked biting her lip and writhing on screen is the last thing she'd like to do. And in this case, it seems as if daughter really does know best.

More from The Stir: Jamie Dornan's '50 Shades of Grey' Debut Is Disappointing at Best

At least Melanie is going to see her daughter in her other movies, even though Dakota forbade her mom from seeing this one. "On the eighth, I'm going to see my daughter filming another movie on Pantelleria [in Sicily]. She just did a movie with Johnny Depp [Black Mass]," Melaine explained. Sicily and Johnny Depp? Doesn't really get much better than that, does it? And it seems Melanie is so proud of her daughter. Still, hopefully she follows Dakota's advice and stays home for this one. No mom needs to see her daughter act out scenes from Fifty Shades of Grey, no matter how fake and artificial.

Check out the trailer again if you need a memory refresher (and see why Dakota may not want her mom seeing her in this movie):

Do you think Dakota is right to not let Melanie watch this movie?

I think she's right as she knows she isn't the perfect match, and can't act

In my opinion, I think she knew what she was filming and if she can't be proud of it then she shouldn't be in the acting business. It's not like it's a porno that we want to watch, this is a Hollywood movie that we are watching. She should be proud of all her works not just the ones she chooses here and there.

In my mind I still don't see Dakota as Anastasia and not planning to view the movie in the theatre.  I will wait for it to be released on video due to that.  I never enjoyed Melanie Griffith's ability to act, or not, and her Grandmother's acting was always a turn off for me, too.  None of them can act and that is my opinion.  Her Father, Don Johnson, once again my opinion, can act and I've enjoyed viewing his works.

I'm definitely planning on seeing the movie .... And I think that the cast members are a great choice .... Jamie is exactly how I pictured Christian to be in the books when I read it and then read again and again !!!!! .... As for Dakota .... I think she will make a great anastasia .... She is very plain jane and that is how ana is meant to be, everybody is entitled to their opinions and I think that no one should really judge until they have seen the film..... I for one am going to book my tickets in advance and I'm really really really looking forward to it .....

Don't see why people are so quick to bitch and judge before they have seen it..... Wait for it to come out then have a correct opinion, ;) I think it's going to be an incredible movie and will be a smash in the box office all over,
