The good people who make The Real Housewives of New Jersey want us all to understand something. While season 6 newbie Amber Marchese may be the one who got her hair extension yanked out on last night's episode, she's the bad one. And for that matter, so is her husband, Jim Marchese, who hates what he does so much, he wants a new career. Sheesh. I don't like these two either, but they are being destroyed so completely this season that, as of episode 4, I almost feel bad for them. In today's exclusive video I break it down and tell you why. Also today, a whole new crop of Housewives from Australia have arrived via The Real Housewives of Melbourne, and season 9, episode 16 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians with the family's last days in Thailand.
In New Jersey, the drama between Amber and Melissa Gorga, Nicole Napolitano, and Teresa Aprea is so deep that I found myself not even caring that Teresa Giudice was staying out of the fray. Did the producers, guessing that Teresa would lay low during her legal trouble, go out and look for three new cast members who would each be Teresa times three? Therefore, new brands of crazy to the power of nine? In any case, I break down what we saw, what we didn't see, what looks real, and what could have been a little, well, massaged.
Next, it's Melbourne and we've got six new ladies to love, or not, as the case may be. Although Bravo buried the series on Sunday afternoons, I think it has a lot of potential and could easily surpass the recent Ladies of London. It's hard to review something objectively when every episode has already aired once with all sorts of recaps and opinions online. I tackled that problem by intentionally NOT Googling anyone except Lydia Schiavello, for reasons I'll explain in today's episode below. I give you my first impressions of the series and its stars, including Lydia as well as Andrea Moss, Chyka Keebaugh, Gina Liano, Jackie Gilles, and Janet Roach, as well as possible reasons why Bravo put it out on Sundays.
Finally, the Kardashians were a mix of genuine, feel-good reality and annoying soundbites that felt engineered. Don't get me wrong, there's a place in reality television for both, but I wish last night's episode had flowed better. Want to know all the details? Watch now!
