It's the holiday season and that means family. If your childhood was dysfunctional, you'll appreciate my Top 5 Dysfunctional Family Holiday Movies list! A few weeks ago, I wrote about the Top 5 Dysfunctional Family Movies. I was inspired to make a holiday list of dysfunctional family flicks because of the great comments I received!
julieh0906 reminded me that National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is one of the best dysfunctional family movies! cheekycherub suggested adding The Ref to my list.
Top 5 Dysfunctional Family Holiday Movies:
#5) A Christmas Story - Puts the fun into dysfunctional.
#4) The Ref - Dennis Leary and Kevin Spacey make me cry with laughter every time.
#3) Elf - Ed Asner, Bob Newhart and Will Ferrell...how can you not laugh?
#2) National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - Classic dysfunctional family flick!
#1) Scrooged - This needs to be on your list! Bill Murray is wicked funny.
Scrooged is my top pick for the best dysfunctional family holiday flick because of Bill Murray! Murray turns Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol upside down in thisHe plays Frank Cross, a ruthless boss of a TV Network who changes after being visited by ghosts. My all time favorite scene is when the props man tries to attach antlers to a mouse:
Props man: I can't get the antlers glued to this little guy. We tried Crazy Glue, but it don't work.
Frank Cross: Did you try staples?
Scrooged is from 1988 but it's awesome. Check out the trailer for the movie and you'll see why I love it. What do you think of this list? What movies did I forget?

How about The Grinch? Here is the baby grinch raised by two swinging women (lesbians?) and greets them after years with "Are you two still living?" Our family loves this film and laughs everytime it is on. My kids do a very good grinch impression too.
Scrooged is my dad's all time favorite Christmas movie. His favorite scene is with Bill Murray and Carol Kane where she cracks him in the face with the toaster. Classic. I love that movie. I wonder if my dad has it on DVD? That would make an awesome Christmas present for him.
How about Fred Claus?? That was a great movie.
I love the christmas story and I look forward to watching it every year.
i was SO about to post National Lampoons Christmas Vacation! We have that movie but the best is A Christmas Story!
