Now that the first teaser featuring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 was released, there's even more exciting news that just came out surrounding the film. Lionsgate has signed Lorde to curate the soundtrack album and write a song! After hearing Lorde's music, most likely, it's gonna be awesome. The soundtrack should be available this fall.
So not only will fans get to hear an original song, it's going to be very interesting to find out who Lorde taps to be a part of this upcoming album. Considering too she has picked some unconventional tourmates like Lo-Fang and Majical Cloudz, hopefully she can choose artists who not only fit the dark vibe of the film, but could use the much-needed boost of fame. No breathy pop stars on this album!
"I sat down with Lorde on the set of Mockingjay this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film," Francis Lawrence, the director of the film, said.
"Her immense talent and keen understanding of Mockingjay’s characters and themes not only have enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film’s essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack." he added. "I can’t wait to share what she’s done with the fans -- it is truly remarkable."
Lorde definitely has the talent to get Hunger Games fans excited about this news. Her single "Royals" won Grammys for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

"Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance," said Lorde. "The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience." Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the second film in the series, actually featured a single by Lorde, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World."
This is going to be quite the immense project for the talented 17-year-old. Imagine being tasked with providing the music for what should be one of the most successful films in 2014! Talk about pressure. But Lorde should more than rise to the occasion. If only she and Jennifer Lawrence could now become best friends ...
