According to my calendar, the year is 2014, but it looks like some people are still stuck in 2009. Of course I'm talking about LeAnn Rimes and how she absolutely loves to talk about the one thing that seems to always be on her mind: her husband Eddie Cibrian’s ex-wife, Brandi Glanville.
It seems as though Rimes just can’t stop poking, jabbing, and pinching Glanville where it hurts. Once again she provoked the reality television star in a new interview.
Rimes and Cibrian are currently on a media blitz to promote their new reality show, LeAnn & Eddie, which airs Thursday nights on VH1. The country singer made a not-so-subtle reference to Glanville’s own reality show career by calling herself the ultimate “Real Housewife.” Because, of course:
I’m actually a real housewife. I’m a housewife. When I’m home, I cook. I do housewife-y things. I love to go on RealSimple.com and pick up a recipe and hang out in the grocery store for hours. I go home and have a glass of wine and cook.
We get it, LeAnn. You’ve got the husband, the marriage, the stepsons, the bikini body, the Botox injections, and now you’ve got the reality show. You want to prove to the world how you’re not just like Brandi Glanville, but a better version of her, too. Someone call Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bridget Fonda because apparently we don’t need them anymore for that updated sequel to Single White Female. LeAnn Rimes has got that part covered!
What’s more, Rimes says she decided to do the reality show because she’s self-aware enough to realize that people have been crying tears of laughter at all those Twitter feuds she’s blessed the gossip blogs with. She also wants people to know that she totally gets it, you guys.
Nothing that we say about ourselves, or others, is untrue. We wanted for people to laugh with us -- they’ve been laughing at us for a long time.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t plan on watching LeAnn & Eddie. I’m sure this is Rimes’ way of stealing the spotlight from Glanville and her Real Housewives fame, but for me, I’m simply not buying it. Just like fringe, boyfriend jeans, and military jackets, I like to keep certain things in the past, and this reality show is five years late in the making.
