Ever since it was announced that Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd would be leaving The View, there has been a ton of speculation about who would replace them. We finally have an answer. It looks like Rosie O'Donnell will join the cast. And she's not the only one. Also being considered for a chair at the table?
According to TMZ, producers are looking for a Latina woman and a conservative. Among the right-leaning candidates are reportedly Abby Huntsman and Margaret Hoover.
However, the only definite right now seems to be O'Donnell, who was on the show years earlier. An outspoken liberal, she often butted heads with Republican Elisabeth Hasselbeck. In fact, their on-air feud was one of the most memorable in daytime TV. On May 23, 2007, the two argued live about the Iraq War and things got very personal.
Take a look:
That was seriously heated. I will admit, when I first heard the news that O'Donnell was coming back, I was a bit disappointed. I thought the show should bring on new, fresh blood. But after watching this fight again, perhaps it's the ideal choice. Rosie can elevate the discussions and bring some much needed fire. She doesn't spew fluff. It would make for some very dramatic TV.
Do you think Rosie is a good addition to the show?
