Rosie O'Donnell's Return to 'The View' Is Exactly the Hot Temper It Needs (VIDEO)

rosie o'donnellEver since it was announced that Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd would be leaving The View, there has been a ton of speculation about who would replace them. We finally have an answer. It looks like Rosie O'Donnell will join the cast. And she's not the only one. Also being considered for a chair at the table?

According to TMZ, producers are looking for a Latina woman and a conservative. Among the right-leaning candidates are reportedly Abby Huntsman and Margaret Hoover.

However, the only definite right now seems to be O'Donnell, who was on the show years earlier. An outspoken liberal, she often butted heads with Republican Elisabeth Hasselbeck. In fact, their on-air feud was one of the most memorable in daytime TV. On May 23, 2007, the two argued live about the Iraq War and things got very personal.

Take a look:

That was seriously heated. I will admit, when I first heard the news that O'Donnell was coming back, I was a bit disappointed. I thought the show should bring on new, fresh blood. But after watching this fight again, perhaps it's the ideal choice. Rosie can elevate the discussions and bring some much needed fire. She doesn't spew fluff. It would make for some very dramatic TV.

Do you think Rosie is a good addition to the show?

No because she is a liar and a hypocrite and a loud mouth. What they gain in attention having her back they will lose in viewership. She is crass and rude

Disliked her before, dislike her now. She's the reason I stopped watching years ago. Good thing I know how to change the channel.

Absolutely not! I've been watching The View for years but come fall it will be time for me to seek out some fresh new programs. Rosie is an obnoxious person and I will not be inviting her into my home via TV.

Soooo Its going to be A View, not The View? Because the original concept was different women, in dofferent places in lifem with different political views. NOW it's a cast of liberal women bashing all and asundry who don't agree with them......geee....wonder why the show is failing.....

Either this show needs to be scrapped once and for all, or it needs to be significantly reworked. "Hot Topics" are never that; they are over-analyzed time fillers. Commercial breaks last 10 minutes at times, and interviews typically are cut short abruptly. If they choose not to cancel the show, then they need a new set at the very least. Or why not create a "pop-up" show, where the guests show up somewhere different in NYC every few days? Keep the viewers guessing, relate the locale to the guests, and get on-the-street feedback about current events. Now that's A Room with a View:-)

Don't watch it because I work during the day, but definitely wouldn't watch it with her in it, she's obnoxious.

Now they can officially rename the show, "A Liberal's View."
