Kate Middleton Receives Harsh Criticism From the Queen

kate middletonDealing with your in-laws is never easy, so imagine how it would feel to be criticized by one who also happens to be the Queen of England, too.

Apparently, Queen Elizabeth is slamming Kate Middleton for her “excessive overspending” on the renovations of her countryside estate in Norfolk, England. Right, because the Royal Family has never wasted a dollar (or in their case, a pound) on excessive and luxurious personal items they never use, huh?

Queen Elizabeth is allegedly upset with the Duchess for spending almost a million dollars on renovations at her 10-bedroom Anmer Hall house that she plans on turning into her family home. It looks like the Queen, though, would prefer her grandson’s wife to shop somewhere less costly, like IKEA, instead. A source tells Life & Style Weekly:

The queen is famously careful about not being flashy. But thanks to Kate the estate now boasts new roof tiles, $800,000 in fresh landscaping and a sitting room. The duchess also shopped around for new fireplaces and William’s grandma isn’t happy. She’s shocked about Kate’s overspending. She thinks it doesn’t make Kate or the royals look good to be splashing out millions on redecoration.

Instead of criticizing her, the Queen should be grateful that Middleton is overseeing the renovations and, if anything, adding value to their property. It's a smart move that will benefit not only Middleton's family, but the Royals as well. Plus, it’s not like Middleton has been going nuts these days with the royal bank account. In fact, it’s been the opposite, as she’s proven herself to be quite thrifty by shopping at places like H&M and Zara, and recycling her looks for different events.

Plus, it was reported earlier this year that the British Royal Family was down to their last million in the bank, with many of their palaces in “dangerous or deteriorating” conditions. Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the family have been spending more than they're bringing in on items such as luxurious dinners and vacations, antiques, and self-portraits. And we all know the Royal Family is not going to JC Penney’s portrait studios to get their holiday pics done, if you know what I mean.

If anything, the Queen might want to take Kate Middleton's lead when it comes to sensible spending. Hey, I hear Talbots is having a sale!

Do you think Kate Middleton is going too far with her renovations or is Queen Elizabeth just being too critical?

If this stuff is true ... and we don't really know with all of the rumors and crap out there.  But with all the crap  KATE has had to take from drunken  Camilla ....    humiliated making her curtsy to not only Camilla  but  Fergies girls.   I feel the Royals are jealous  ..... sad but I see Diana abuse all over again  and would hate to see Will lose his wife and child due to this kind of  stuff.    As I said we don't know the true story .....    I don't believe anything I read anymore..

I love Kate and she is so classy, why doesn't the Queen say anything about Camilla, talk about a looser. Kate is the best thing that has happened to the royal family.

I love the remark of the millions on a helicopter and if the queen is so frugal is it necessary to have so many valuable crowns, castles + excess jewellery that would be worn once in a while ..?

I believe that they are a young couple and they do things very different then our generation had done before. Obviously there is monies to be able to spend and from what I have been reading Kate is a budget shopper and looks for the good prices. If it is a home that they are going to live in as a family, yes , I would want it all up to date also especially that things haven't been maintained for many years.. Do it now why wait till it all falls apart at the same time. Obviously the Queen & future queen aren't looking at the picture together and understanding it all. I guess some communication should have ben done prior to all... Iam

sure it will be beautiful when completed...

Kate has brought fresh, new like to the British monarchy. Her expenses are oriented toward the future. Some of this work has been sorely neglected. Kate is the best PR England has had since Diana. Look at Georgie! What more could the Queen want? I suspect this is the kind of criticism William was worried about when he chose a wife. Catherine can handle it. The future is hers and her child's.

No Catherine is not going too far spending the house required an up date anyway how do you update a 10 bedroom home to the standard that required for this type of property without doing it the right way.

Kate is over spending as a noveau riche person does and has no idea, absolutely no idea of not overstepping the Monarch's generosity. The Queen's sister Princess Margaret renovated those rooms in Kensington Palace to the heights of what was stylish and available at the time. Apart from the asbestos issues, the rooms were certainly not squalid. Until Kate steps up with noblesse oblige, some humilty, and learning to pull back as to emulate aristocratic mores - well she is a hopeless mess & Willam's poorly common choice of wife. The Queen has absolutely every right to chastise Kate for going over budget. It is well known in Royal circles that The Queen is notoriously frugal and oversees all household spending with a firmly Scottish-eye-for-value within a budget. Why should Kate not honour that? She must.
