Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard's Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Is a Mix of Sad & Happy

We're very excited for Jill Duggar, the second oldest daughter in TLC's 19 Kids & Counting, and her love Derick Dillard, who are getting married TODAY -- whoo hoo! The perfectly matched couple, with the help of 100 of their nearest and dearest, held their wedding rehearsal dinner last night and we have all the amazing -- and emotional -- details. By the sound of it, the night was a blast, but one incredibly important person was noticeably absent, and it remains to be seen whether she'll be able to attend today's nuptials.

Anyone who follows the loving Duggar family has probably heard that Dillard's mom, Cathy, has cancer. Sadly, she was too sick to attend their rehearsal dinner and may not be able to see her son walk down the aisle. Still, Dillard didn't lose hope and even pushed a wheelchair during rehearsal to prep for today, when he plans to accompany his mom toward the altar. I'm tearing up just thinking about that, and I really hope Cathy will be well enough to celebrate this huge milestone in her child's life.

Despite such sadness, it sounds like Jill and Derick made the best of things last night. Volunteers helped them prepare food for the reception and decorate the church where 2,000 guests will witness them exchanging vows. It sounds like they're really going to have a sweet, down-to-earth celebration.

More from The Stir: Jill Duggar & Derick Dillar's Wedding Registry Will Make for Interesting Gifts

After they worked hard, guests played hard by enjoying a dinner of barbecued brisket, chicken legs, baked beans, hash brown casserole, deviled eggs, and an ice-cream sundae station.

Every member of the Duggar clan was in attendance, and guests relayed sweet stories about the couple. Jill's younger siblings even shared a funny video they put together of Dillard proposing to Jill.

We can't wait to get a glimpse of Jill's wedding dress, watch her walk down the aisle, and, of course, see Michelle and Bob Duggar tear up when they give their baby away. And, of course, we hope Cathy is feeling well enough to attend the special event. Happy wedding day, Jill and Derick!

What do you think Jill and Derick's wedding will be like?

I was thinking the same thing about 2000 being down to earth...hope that's a typo for 200 which is a bit more reasonable.

200 folks would be a lot to be honest.

Then again i plan on like 50 people at my wedding if that much.

Hope the wedding was everything they hoped for.

I am thrilled for them and with the big families - 1,000 or 2,000 is small. I know - we have a large families. Blessing on them and prayers for Ben's Mom.

When you think about it I could see how they would have so many guests. Just their immediate family would include 23 (including Anna + the 3 kids). Jessa is also in a courtship so I'm sure Ben and his family woul be invited and they aslso have a fairly large family. They have several families who they are very close with like themselves who have large families which they would definately invite, ie the Bates family. There is also the rest of the family and friends that had come in from all over the country plus the TLC crew and their families. This doesn't even begin to mention his family and friends. Once you really sit and think about it it's not so hard to imagine. Guess it's a good thing that they made all of the food themselves. That would be one expensive bill.
