Possible adorable new couple alert! Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams have been spotted out and about together a few times in recent weeks, which basically means we should be thinking up couple nicknames and compositing their photos to find out what their children will look like.
Or ... according to sources, it could just mean the two are meeting for work and are just friends. Boo!! That's no fun at all. It's much more fun to think of two single, attractive actors falling in love instead of doing boring work stuff.
The non-couple was spotted in Pittsburgh in early June, having dinner at a restaurant called Meat and Potatoes, which obviously sounds delicious. A fan caught them there and Instagrammed a picture with the caption, "Why is my girlfriend Rachel McAdams eating dinner with Jake Gyllenhaal," to which I have to say -- it's OK, they're just friends, apparently.
But then this last weekend they were seen again together at the Miguel Cotto vs. Sergio Martinez fight in New York City on June 9. Kind of an odd choice for a second date, but you know, to each their own.
Or ... maybe they were doing some research for their upcoming movie Southpaw, which just happens to star the 33-year-old Gyllenhaal as a boxer. Damn. Presumably, McAdams, 35, will play the love interest. Oh yeah, and there's the little matter of her presumed still-boyfriend Patrick Sambrook, who she was seen smooching as recently as May.
Anyway, a source told Us Weekly, "They've just been meeting about the movie ... It's really coming together," adding that they have "good chemistry." Adds another source: "Jake and Rachel are just friends."
They did arrive at the fight in the same car, and she looked amazing in a sparkly little black dress that showed off her legs like only a stunning little dress can. But the first insider mentioned above said, "It's research for the film ... Jake's been going to a few fights, and they've been meeting with the boxers ... They were there to watch the fight and chat with the trainers and people involved with the sport."
"Jake is totally behind the project," the source said, adding that he really wants to get into the mindset of a boxer and has been spending a lot of time with director Antoine Fuqua.
Dang. Sounds legit. Oh well -- hopefully we'll at least get a great movie out of it!
Do you think Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams would make a cute couple?
